NBA Star Norm Nixon Arrested For DUI
Former LA Lakers and San Diego/LA Clippers player Norm Nixon was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Monday. Nixon was arrested in Marina del Rey by the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reports that two of its officers saw Nixon's black Ferrari on Lincoln Boulevard, and stopped the vehicle because it apparently had no front license plate. When the officers spoke to Nixon, they noted the smell of alcohol coming from the car. They performed a field sobriety test on Nixon, which he failed. He was then arrested and booked into the LAPD's Van Nuys jail. He was released a few hours later on $5,000 bail.
Nixon entered the NBA in 1977 and played on two championship Laker teams in 1980 and 1982. He was traded to the Clippers in 1983 and retired from the sport in 1989. He now provides game analysis for Fox Sports West on the LA Lakers games.
