Southern California Warrant Sweep Nets 1,000 Fugitives
Police agencies in four counties executed a series of Southern California warrant sweeps in June that resulted in the arrests of more than 1,000 wanted persons. Local and federal law enforcement agencies arrested 31 persons wanted for murder, 122 persons wanted for sex crimes and 221 persons wanted in connection with gang activities.
Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County law enforcement agencies combined with the US Marshals Service to conduct the month-long campaign. In addition to the arrests, the warrant sweep seized 74 illegal weapons and closed nearly 1,400 open warrants.
