Los Angeles Man Arrested For Shooting Deputy
A Los Angeles man was arrested after shooting a deputy in Palmdale and has been charged with attempted murder. Police say Dejon King, 18, was arrested about 40 minutes after shooting a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy who had stopped King to question him. King pulled a gun and shot the officer in the shoulder. The officer returned fire but did not hit King. King dropped his weapon at the scene and sped off in a sedan.
Sheriff's deputies spotted the suspect in an apartment complex and chased him for a short distance. King then forced his way into the home of an elderly woman and surrendered only after deputies surrounded the home. The suspect may also face charges of home invasion, weapons charges and eluding police. The deputy who was shot is expected to recover fully.
