Santa Paula Child Pornography Sentence Delayed

Santa Paula Child Pornography Sentence Delayed
A Santa Paula man convicted of possessing child pornography will wait until August 25 to learn his sentence. Michael Mitchell, 55, pleaded guilty to possession of the images and to molesting a five-year-old girl who lived with the victim's grandmother. Mitchell, who had lived with the grandmother since the child's mother was a young girl, amassed a large collection of pornographic imagery on his personal computer.
The child pornography cache was discovered after the victim reported the molestation to her mother. Mitchell, who was accused of assaulting the girl repeatedly in Ojai in Spring 2008, faces a sentence of up to 15 years to life in state prison. The defense's sentencing delay request was granted by Ventura County Superior Court judge Bruce Young to allow Mitchell's attorney to collect letters of support.
