Realtor Pleads Guilty In Ventura Grand Theft Case
Former Ventura County realtor Veronica Gallegos, 28, pleaded guilty to felony theft and five counts of grand theft, stemming from allegations that she defrauded investors of more than $1.3 million in a phony construction scheme.
Gallegos is accused of telling victims that she was an accredited investor and accepted funds from six individuals. The victims turned over between $40,000 and $622,000. Victims did receive some of their money back but prosecutors say that the overall loss was about $1.2 million, none of which has been recovered. Gallegos is accused of using the funds to pay for personal items, including a truck that she purchased just one day after receiving an investment of $193,000. Gallegos faces more than 12 years behin bars.
