Parolee Arrested In Car Chase, Crash
Ventura police arrested 43-year old Thomas Young on outstanding warrants after Young led department officers on a high-speed car chase that topped 100-mph at times. Young raced through the streets of Ventura, driving erratically, before colliding with a light pole. After police began their pursuit, they broke it off because they determined that chasing Young was too dangerous. Just minutes after police lost sight of Young, they received a call reporting an accident nearby. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered Young fleeing the scene of the accident.
After a short chase on foot, police arrested Young. The driver suffered minor injuries in the accident. When he was arrested, Young was also found to be carrying a handgun, a violation of his parole. He was also charged with felony evading arrest. He is being housed at the Ventura County Jail without bond.
