Los Angeles County Man Arrested In Grandmother's Murder
A Los Angeles County man was arrested in the murder of his grandmother. Joseph Elias George Ettima, 25, of Los Angeles, was arrested in Mexico. He is accused of killing Emma Hardwick-Street, 69, of Los Alamitos in January and setting her house ablaze to cover up the killing.
Authorities said that two young children - who are also grandchildren of the victim- were in the home at the time Ettima set the house on fire. The children, ages 8 and 3, witnessed the murder and escaped the burning home unharmed. Ettima initially fled to Tijuana and then traveled to the southern state of Chiapas, where he was arrested. He has been charged with murder, robbery, arson, child endangerment and parole violations. He was previously convicted of robbery, weapons possession, weapons manufacturing, and indecent exposure.
