Seven Percent Of Respondents Admit To Drunk Driving

Drunk Driving Survey Reveals DUI Patterns
Results from a survey conducted by FindLaw.com show that one in twelve Americans say they were likely to have been driving drunk at some point in the previous twelve months. Male drivers were three times more likely than female drivers to have driven while they thought they were above the legal blood alcohol limit. Drivers between the ages of 18 and 34 were twice as likely to admit driving while under the influence than drivers aged 35 or older. Of the drivers in the study who admitted to driving under the influence, 12 percent say they have previously been arrested at some point in their lives for driving while intoxicated.
Laws that restrict driving under the influence apply to more than just alcohol. Drivers can also be arrested for driving while under the influence of any controlled substance, including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and illegal drugs like marijuana or cocaine.
