Ventura Police Arrest Transient For Home Burglaries
Ventura police say that the 22-year-old transient they arrested earlier this month is responsible for a series of home burglaries in that city. Police allege that Trent Gonzalez broke into at least ten homes between December 3 and December 11, when he was arrested.
Gonzalez already has an arrest record for burglary and was released from the Ventura County Jail just one day before the burglaries began. Police said that Gonzalez entered the homes through open windows or doors and that the ten burglaries he is accused of all happened in a very small geographic area.
According to police, fingerprint and other evidence was used to link Gonzalez directly to three of the ten burglaries, and similarities between those and the remaining seven incidents led police to conclude that Gonzalez was responsible for all ten incidents. In addition, police note that the burglaries stopped when Gonzalez was arrested.
